WomEntrepreneurship: IT and Engineering at Their Strongest!
Dates: 2021 – 2022
Partner: British Embassy in North Macedonia
Project Overview:
The project aimed to empower young women to pursue careers in fields where women are traditionally underrepresented, focusing on IT and engineering. Its objectives were to break barriers, provide mentorship, and create new opportunities by equipping young women with the tools needed to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
In December 2020, two specialized academies were held to further empower young women:
- EngeWomen Academy: Held at the University of Tetovo, this academy focused on engineering, providing hands-on experience and mentorship for aspiring engineers.
- CodeGirl Academy: Hosted at the South East European University, this academy brought together young women passionate about coding and IT, offering practical skills and industry insights.
The project also collaborated with 10 accomplished women from various industries to produce a series of impactful videos. These videos served as a roadmap for young women aiming to succeed in challenging fields, offering guidance on overcoming obstacles and navigating career paths despite societal barriers.
In total, the project trained and mentored 50 young women seeking careers in male-dominated fields, and connected over 670 job seekers with more than 50 employers in the Polog region through a career fair.
