Meeting with the H.E. Ambassador Galloway and the nine mayors of the Polog Region

At the invitation of ILPP, today the mayors from all municipalities of the Polog region and H.E. Ambassador Rachel Galloway gathered to discuss and take further steps to increase the participation of women in decision-making within local self-government units, as well as at the national level. The discussion, beyond being fruitful in itself, also resulted in a specific commitment from all municipalities to focus on upgrading women’s specific skills that will enable their meaningful representation.
“We are pleased to support the ILPP in improving the lives of citizens in Polog and beyond, and we appreciate their committed work in this area. I agree with the mayors that the level of support for women in decision-making in society should increase, also through other institutional mechanisms,” stated Ambassador Galloway.
The mayors expressed that they are happy to have such support from ILPP through this project, with hands-on involvement in designing approaches for the municipalities as a priority in their working agendas.
The period ahead will be an intense one in terms of activities, which will be conducted in close cooperation between ILPP, the UK Embassy, municipalities, and other respective stakeholders.
