Western Values Aligned with Western Economic Partnerships in North Macedonia

Supported by the U.S. Embassy in Skopje, the initiative aims to reduce North Macedonia’s business interests with China and redirect economic and political partnerships toward EU countries instead.

The goal of the “Western Values Aligned with Western Economic Partnerships in North Macedonia” project is to raise awareness about the risks posed by China’s malign political and economic influence, while promoting stronger economic and political relationships with EU nations.

ILPP is working to highlight how China’s economic presence in North Macedonia may threaten the country’s prospects for EU accession. The project emphasizes the importance of engaging with Western-oriented countries by bringing together business leaders, academic experts, and think-tank communities to discuss the challenges posed by China and the path toward EU integration.

The project will include a social media campaign to increase public awareness of this issue, alongside a published report analyzing China’s current political and economic influence in North Macedonia. Panel discussions and conferences with relevant stakeholders will further publicize the topic and ensure proper attention to China’s influence as a pressing national concern.
