ILPP organizes open talks with the mayors of the Polog region
As part of the project “Increased Participation of Women in North Macedonia” supported by the UK Embassy in Skopje, we organized open discussions with leaders of the 9 local municipalities.
During the month of August, we organized panel discussions with local political leaders and mayors from the nine municipalities of the Polog region: Tetovo, Gostivar, Brvenica, Želino, Vrapčište, Jegunovce, Bogovina, Mavrovo and Rostuša, and Tearce.
In meetings with the local municipal councils, we informed the representatives about our projects and activities. We were warmly welcomed by the mayor of Gostivar, Mr. Arben Taravari; the mayor of Želino, Mr. Blerim Sejdiu; the mayor of Bogovina, Mr. Albon Xhemaili; and the representative of Vrapčište, Mr. Shinasi Salihi. They were all open and willing to discuss the role of women in politics, the realities in their own municipalities, and the foreseen changes. These discussions provided valuable insights into local challenges and opportunities. The positive engagement from all parties involved reinforced our commitment to supporting gender equality and political participation in the region.
