In the Republic of North Macedonia, one of the main challenges for gender equality is achieving gender parity in political and social processes within the community. It should be noted that the legal framework guarantees equal rights for men and women, but the influence of social norms, customs, traditions, economic conditions, and institutional barriers presents a serious obstacle to strengthening and advancing the position of women in this area.

This research was conducted in the Polog region and covered 500 respondents (44% men and 56% women). Respondents answered questions regarding political activity, the fairness of elections, and their perceptions of women’s involvement in political life. The study explored the factors and perceptions that impact the level of women’s participation in politics.
