Women’s Participation in Politics in the Pollog Region, North Macedonia – A Study on Influencing Factors
Mar 04, 2022
In the Republic of North Macedonia, one of the main challenges for gender equality is achieving gender parity in political and social processes within the community. It should be noted that the legal framework guarantees equal rights for men and women, but the influence of social norms, customs, tradition, economic conditions, and institutional barriers represents a serious obstacle to empowering and advancing the position of women in this sphere. This study was conducted in the Pollog region and covered 498 respondents (44% men and 56% women). What is the perception of citizens regarding women’s involvement in political life? Are women sufficiently involved in political life in the Republic of North Macedonia? These are just a few of the questions addressed by this study.
